From early morning, the Tam Hiep Ward People’s Committee was bustling with lines of young men preparing for eye examinations during the military service pre-selection phase. Over five days (October 18–22, 2025), Sai Gon Bien Hoa Eye Hospital coordinated with local officials and volunteers to examine more than 4,000 citizens aged 18 to 27. This activity not only served the recruitment process but also demonstrated a sense of responsibility and humanitarian significance—aiming for a healthy generation of youth ready to protect the Fatherland.
1. Professional Eye Examination Activities Contributing to the Quality of 2025 Recruitment Targets
To ensure objectivity, transparency, and accuracy in every stage of health assessment, Sai Gon Bien Hoa Eye Hospital deployed full personnel and modern specialized equipment, ensuring the examination process was efficient and smooth.
The specialized and thorough examination items included:
- Visual acuity measurement using standard charts, testing both eyes for a general assessment.
- Screening for common refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism using modern devices to ensure early and accurate detection.
- Assessment of other ocular pathologies (if any) to ensure long-term visual health for the youth.
During the pre-selection session, in addition to basic steps like physical fitness tests, blood pressure, and electrocardiograms (ECG), candidates underwent vision screening to determine their eye condition. This is a crucial factor in evaluating whether they meet the criteria for enlistment. On-site records showed that 60–70% of cases were detected with refractive errors.
2. Atmosphere and Spirit of the Participating Youth
The eye examination took place in an orderly and serious yet vibrant and positive atmosphere. The young men participated with a sense of responsibility, feeling both excited and earnest as they prepared for the first step of the military service selection process.
Many candidates were cheerful and proactively discussed their eye condition and vision care with medical staff. Overall, the program proceeded smoothly, ensuring safety and efficiency while demonstrating seamless coordination and a high sense of responsibility between the medical team and support forces.
3. Sai Gon Bien Hoa Eye Hospital: Accompanying Community Health
By partnering with the Tam Hiep Ward People’s Committee to examine 4,000 citizens for military service, Sai Gon Bien Hoa Eye Hospital has contributed to improving the quality of recruitment and demonstrated social responsibility. A team of specialists directly examined, assessed, and provided consultations on eye health, working with local officials to ensure a precise, scientific, and safe process.

After five working days, the eye examination program for 4,000 young men in Tam Hiep Ward concluded successfully, leaving behind smiles and confident looks from the youth—a testament to the efforts of the medical team and local authorities.
